COVID-19: Sporting activities

(PRESS RELEASE) – The Saint Lucia Football Association Inc. in keeping with the national response strategy now employed to contain and eradicate the COVID 19 Virus, has determined that it will undertake the following:

– The cancellation of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Division Club Championships with immediate effect,
-The cancellation of all training for National Teams with immediate effect,

-Postponement of the Business Writing Workshop,
-The Postponement of the 2020 Ordinary Congress,
-The cancellation of all Technical Meetings with immediate effect,

-The Postponement of the “Adopt A School Program“ with immediate effect,
-The Postponement of all other Football related programs and activities involving the SLFA,

When there is more clarity on the current situation and as to when we can reschedule the various postponed activities we will provide you with the necessary updates.

Moving forward, we will meet with you when the time is appropriate to discuss the impact of the current situation on the existing calendar of activities, with the primary objective of finding appropriate circumstances allow, and the possible need to develop a new program of activities. We will continue to keep in contact with you during this.

We would like to remind everyone to Stay Safe and remember to follow the five tactics to tackle the virus as outlined by the Ministry of Health:

-Wash your hands frequently with an alcohol based hand solution,
-With your elbows bent , cover your mouth if you sneeze or cough and if using tissue, dispose of them immediately,
-Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose and mouth,

In terms of social interaction, take a step back. Stay at least three feet minimum distance away from everyone that coughs or sneezes, If you feel unwell stay home. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance.

We would like to also remind everyone to follow the additional information and advice provided by the medical fraternity and play their part in the fight to contain and eradicate COVID 19.
