Flood warning discontinued

A flood warning which was in effect for Saint Lucia for most of Thursday, July 30, was discontinued by the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services office.

The warning, which was issued at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, was due to be terminated later on in the day, but it was extended based on persistent showers and rainy conditions.

In its 6:00 a.m. weather report for Friday, the Meteorological Services office said the conditions will remain partly cloudy to cloudy at times with some scattered showers this morning and a gradual decrease in clouds and shower activity is expected as the day progresses.

The office had issued a flood warning for Saint Lucia and advised residents and motorists especially those in areas prone to flooding and landslides to exercise extreme caution in their activities.

All residents are still however asked to pay attention to further announcements from the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services and the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO).

  1. Flooding in town is not due to just rain. The local authorities need to invest in cleaning of drains and removal of rubbish.
