PRESS RELEASE – The South Calypso Tent will be the first Calypso Tent to launch in the 2014 Calypso Season which is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the National Cultural Centre at 8.30 p.m.

This year, the South Calypso Tent will be operating under the theme “Touch of Class” and promises to deliver the quality of Calypso and Soca music which will be pleasing to both the young and older generation.

On stage will be a mixture of Calypso and Soca artists including the three-time Calypso Monarch and defending Calypso Monarch, Menell, former Calypso Monarch, Nintus together with popular Calypsonians Mary G, Believe Me, Journalist, Dycer Fontelio, Duval, Julibee, newcomer Hitty and also Dennis James, who has captured the Calypso Monarch crown three times in Toronto, Canada and will be competing for the first time in St. Lucia.

The South Calypso Tent also has among its cast popular Groovy and Soca artist, Arthur, who is also the lead vocalist of the Eva Lucian band and other promising and energetic Groovy and Soca artists D’Sean and Benje.

The show promises to be an exciting one as the tent launches its defense of its achievements winning three consecutive Calypso Monarch crowns 2011, 2012 and 2013 respectively.

The back-up band for the South Calypso Tent will be Keith “D’Jango” McBurnie and the South All Stars which is well known for its excellent back up music and the MC will be the popular Ezi Hall.

The South Calypso Tent is considering the difficult economic times that St. Lucians are presently facing and in an effort to encourage maximum attendance, is only charging $25 as the admission fee for its shows in the 2014 Calypso season.
