UPDATE: Fireman charged with stealing patient’s gold ring
Several stations are being affected by the sick-out.

Police have charged a fireman accused of stealing from a patient.

Officials of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) have confirmed that the fireman was charged this morning.

The fireman has been identified as Glen Joseph, 28, of Ciceron.

He was arrested for allegedly stealing a woman’s gold wedding ring, on Friday last.

Reports reaching St. Lucia News Online (SNO) indicates that the woman was picked up by an ambulance and transported to a hospital after she had collapsed in Castries.

The woman reported losing her wedding ring after she was picked up by the ambulance. She accused Joseph of stealing the item. Joseph was responsible for taking her to the hospital.

A report was made with the Fire Service and the Criminal Investigations Department of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force (RSLPF).

The fireman, who is attached to the St. Lucia Fire Service Headquarters, was subsequently arrested.

  1. Everyone who is on here saying that they know the man and they know he didn't steal the ring tell them to have an honest conversation with him.....if you find a ring on an ambulance, I am sure there are procedures as to what to do when something is found on the ambulance......so ask him why he pawned the persons ring??? I know he is your friend and you may feel sorry for him, but my advice to him is next time he gets so something....especially in a place like an ambulance, where you know that if you find something, it has to belong to someone.....ambulances do not make stuff....so you find a ring...you follow procedures period.... You take it and you do what ever you do with it.....You should be arrested....you are there to serve and protect!!! Not to be dishonest....Speak to your friend if you know him well and give him advice as not to do anything like that again....and now he would have had his job....young man like that already in a secured job and losing it for stupidity!!

  2. I have a serious problem with this scenario. If the lady fell and she was unconscious how could she possibly know who took the ring. The ring could have been stolen before the ambulance arrived, the ring could have been taken during the trip to the hospital or even at the hospital. How the hell does she know exactly when the ring was taken. If this guy is not guilty and he has a good lawyer, he will walk through this.

    • It wouldn't have gotten nearly as far as this if they didn't have proof... they most likely found the ring on him or with his belongings... they can arrest on suspicion but they cannot charge without facts....

  3. There are dishonest ppl in all professions. Police,Customs, nursing ,contractors etc. We only know who they are when they are caught. So stop attacking Shane. He is not the culprit.
    Show intelligence and maturity.

  4. I'm really hurt reading some of these comments. I too know Glenn personally. I'm trying to make sense out of nonsense. If the woman collapsed, knocked out, etc etc how can she identify Glenn as the one who took her ring off her finger? Did the police execute a search warrant of his mother's house? As this is his residence? Before some of you'll open you'll mouths and call him names remember when you live in a glass don't throw stones.

    • Even if you living with Glenn and you grew up with Glenn you still don't know ALL there is to know about Glenn... They can't charge him without proof. It could be another fire officer that took the ring off but they had proof against him.

  5. First of all I know this young man personally and this is not what happened. He didn't steal the ring. The media and most Lucian will sensationalize this story, especially with the just ended strike action. They have blown this way out of proportion. This guy is not a thief, he is a good guy if there ever was one. Never sick, always on time, always at work even during the strike. People make mistakes and am sure he is beating himself up wanting to go back to last Friday and change the outcome of things. I am so sorry for him. It hurts my heart. As for the idiots on here blaming Shane Felix, really? What does he have to do with it? He is the Chairman of the association, not any fire officer's father or uncle or guardian. People will look for all ways to throw stones at the fire service right now, especially those who backed up that Fontinelle. And I bet he may be behind some of the comments I have read so far. Keep your head up Joseph.

    • Ms. What,
I dont get your point. Reporting to work early has nothing to do with stealing a ring or being a good person. He may be a good worker that does not mean he is a good person. Not that I am telling you he stole the ring as I was there but what you said made no sense.

  7. Nothing new there; 5 years ago my brother had a heart attack in one of the supermarkets in the north, he had just gotten back from London the day before, went to the bank, stopped at the supermarket where he got sick, by the time the ambulance got there he passed away. Every last penny was stolen from his pocket.
