A fast-moving fire tore through a Grande Riviere home Monday afternoon, leaving a family of four temporarily homeless.
Firefighters responded at 3 p.m. to the home of Elizabeth Wilson at Grande Riviere, Gros Islet who was at work when the fire started.
Neighbours said that they smelled smoke and when they peeped out, they saw fire in the building. They said that they immediately formed a bucket brigade but did not managed to contain the fire.
Eyewitnesses said fire fighters responded promptly to the call, however they were unable to save the home.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Police are currently probing the matter.
