A fire destroyed a wooden building in Babonneau near the community’s multi-purpose centre on Tuesday evening.
St. Lucia News Online (SNO) understands that the fire broke out around 11:30 p.m.
Reports are that the building housed three establishments, including a shop.
The shop owner, Martin Augustin, a freelance reporter, told SNO that he was at home in Balata, when he received a call from someone in the area who related the sad news.
Augustin said persons told him that the fire started in a house behind his shop.
It is not clear how many persons were affected by the inferno.
Investigations are ongoing.
