Reports are that the fire started sometime around 10 p.m. and quickly spread across the wooden structure.
A source told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) on Sunday that the man lived in the house alone, since his mother passed away last year, and had left the property for him.
“Another house was almost destroyed, but the fire engine reached in time. Just the widows were shattered and the wood on the edge of the roof started burning,” the source added.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
No was injured.
