Fight at nightclub between couple results in police action

Charges are expected to be laid against a couple this week, stemming from an altercation at a popular night spot in Rodney Bay over the weekend.

According to reliable sources, both may be charged for unlawful fighting but the male is separately facing charges of resisting arrest and obscene language.

Allegations are that the man, who is the son of a lawyer, was hanging out at the bar/night club with another female and friends when he was approached by his girlfriend. An argument reportedly developed and soon become physical.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the female was not all innocent as at one point she tugged at the man’s clothing, urging him to come with her. At one point, it is alleged that she hit him before leaving the bar.

On reaching outside the popular night spot, the scene became ugly with the male losing his temper and assaulting the female.

A police officer disrupted the altercation, arrested the male, and brought him into the custody.

According to reports, the female gave police a statement but later indicated she is not interested in pressing assault charges against her boyfriend who was eventually released from custody.

Reports are that he and his girlfriend may be summoned to court this week for unlawful fighting.

The boyfriend who, in the heat of the moment, allegedly behaved boisterously when he was accosted by the police, may be charged with resisting arrest and obscene language.

  1. I can't understand the, obsession with finding out the names of two foolish people brawling in a bar. Give me the names of murderers, rapists and thieves!

  2. They did not charge him because of certain reasons but they sure as hell beat the crap out of him he was handcuffed and beaten by a group of police the reports never let the public know exactly what happens

  3. It saddens me to be associated to an institution that dispenses justice based on who you are and who you know. I am aware that the young lady who reported the lawyer gave a statement but said that she did not want court action but he was still charged. However in this case the young lady did the same and that was the end of it. How can we expect Joe public to trust our institution when it appears that our police force is about making examples of some and not acting against others because of who they are?

  6. To me, just a few weeks ago SNO had an article with the lawyer who had an incident with his woman. They mention his name, where he working, even when he became a lawyer. They never mention the girl name. Why this time they don't want to mention names. If it is good for one it should be good for the other. To me I see no difference between that lawyer incident and this one. The system corrupt. Why the police didn't still charge the the feller or the girl. If he beat her charge him. She is a woman just like that other girl. What different about that case. I am a woman and I can tell you woman always quick to slap man or fly on man and when the man do them something the quick to report them.

    • Pam: In that scenario, the lawyer was charged so it was safe to release his name. In this case, the man is not yet charged. understand now or you need us to meet so I could break it down for you into molecular pieces?

  7. This issue is not newsworthy. That's roro, we know lucians love a lot of that, but please let discuss meaningful and important issues on this site.

  8. Those who want names disclosed, I think they're very ignorant of the law and are more interested in who's involved than the news for that matter. I don't think this incident is one where people need to know the individuals as opposed to a rapist or a killer where they need to be aware for their safety.
I appreciate this site as they allow us to know the events which occur in St. Lucia for those of us who don't have time catch the new. "Good Job SNO"

    • Based on local laws and policies and/or journalism ethics, you cannot disclose a person's name until he or she is charged. As it stands, the persons were either arrested or taken into custody.

      • What laws and journalism ethics, The whole point of journalist is to expose the truth and the whole truth. Thats why in the Caribbean the news doesnt make any sense.

        (0)(0)

        • The Caribbean has different laws. Laws concerning releasing names of suspects differ in the UK and the US. I will not jeopardize my business to please a few who are ignorant.
