FICS and Police Welfare Association bring financial management training to police

PRESS RELEASE – Financial Investment & Consultancy Services Ltd in collaboration with the Police Welfare Association hosted a four day Financial Management Workshop as part of its outreach activities aimed at educating and empowering persons to make sound financial decisions to improve their quality of life.

“The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is indeed grateful to the Police Welfare Association for conceptualizing this training and Financial Investment and Consultancy Services (FICS) for its delivery. Whereas Financial Management does not form part of the conventional training syllabus within the Police Force, I do believe that Financial Management is vital not only in our professional but private lives.” stated Commissioner of Police, Mr Vernon Francois.

The workshop touched on critical areas such as managing your personal finances, debt management and retirement planning.  Guest speakers Honorable Claudius Francis, President of the Senate and President of the Insurance Council and Lawyer Dylan Norbert- Inglis also addressed the participants on the areas insurance planning and estate planning, respectively.

“The Financial Management workshop facilitated by FICS was well received by the participants and the Police Welfare Association. From all indications, the workshop has empowered them with the knowledge to better manage their finances and plan ahead for their future, and most importantly, their retirement” stated Camron Laure, President of the Police Welfare Association.

The Financial Management workshop was broken down into two segments which were held on November 12th and 13th and November 19th and 20th, 2014 at the Public Service Conference Room. Approximately 80 police officers participated in the interactive and engaging workshop.
