A police officer, who was killed just after he had assisted some four persons to safety in Vieux Fort on the night of the Christmas Eve trough, has been lauded by Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony.

Special Police Constable 4 Calvin Stanley Louis of Piaye, Laborie reportedly died after a wall fell on him.

“He gave his life in the line of duty. We are thankful for his life of service and his commitment to duty,” the prime minister told the media at a press briefing this morning.

Louis, also known as Headley, was a Special Services Unit (SSU) officer operating in Vieux Fort.

At the time of his death, he was reportedly in plain clothes and off duty, but decided to extend a helping hand to those stranded by the flood.

He also did security work for a gas station in Vieux Fort.

Louis will get a military funeral which will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 2 pm at the Victory Pentecostal Church in Vieux Fort.

  1. I am not surprise at his good deed. Officer 4 loius was that person who would do it again. I worked with him 12 years ago and he was some one, I could talk too. It saddens my heart to know he us gone. I just deleted his number. Heart felt sympathy to his family and RSLPF (SPC). May his soul rest in peace.

  9. To the family, relatives and friends of true HERO- Calvin Stanley Louis, please accept my deepest sympathy. Your husband, father, brother, cousin, friend, did what was instilled in him by his family during his upbringing; he was helping someone or people in need, like most of us would under the circumstances. Him being a Police Officer was just icing on the cake. In helping others, he paid with the greatest price, HIS LIFE. We, Saint Lucians, should all be EXTREMELY proud of this young man, the ultimate HERO. God Bless you and everyone who was affected by the weather system.
