Excitement expected as Veterans Football Tournament resumes

football1PRESS RELEASE – There is lots of excitement anticipated as The 2015/2016 Veterans Football Tournament being staged by Veterans in Sports Inc with support from Blackheart Productions and the ST.Lucia Football Association resumes this weekend after a break for the festive season.

The tournament resumes Saturday and Sunday at the recently refurbished  La Ressource Playing Field in Mabouya  Valley with the playing of the quarter finals for the Lime Plate championship. Four matches are scheduled for this weekend at Mabouya Valley with double headers each day.

On Saturday  from 6.00p.m. Former Veterans Champions Behind the College All Stars plays Nyah and from 8.00p.m. Laborie Veterans comes up against Dennery All Blacks.

On  Sunday from 5.00p.m. Prophets and Kings comes up against  Micoud Veterans while from 7.00 p.m. home team Valley Legends squares off against Micoud Renegades.

The winners of the matches will qualify for the semi finals of the plate championship to be held on Saturday January 23rd at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort.

The winner of the Plate championship will receive The Lime Plate and $2000 dollars, second place receives $1500 dollars, 3rd place $1000 dollars and 4th place $800 dollars.

Meantime the Quarter Finals of the Tournament proper for the Caribbean Alliance cup will be held next weekend January 16th and 17th and the Soufriere Mini Stadium.


The match ups are as follows:

Saturday January 16th 2016:

From 6.00p.m. – Vieux Fort South vs Congorians

From 8.00 p.m. – Caricom Masters vs Soufriere Veterans


Sunday January 17th 2016:

From 5.00p.m. – Central Vieux Fort vs Gros Islet Veterans

From 7.0 P.M. – Anse La Raye vs VSADC

The semi finals of the main competition for the Caribbean Alliance Cup will take place on Sunday January 24th 2016 at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort.

The winners of the overall tournament will receive the Caribbean Alliance Trophy and $7000 dollars plus a brand new football kit for their team. Second place finishers take home $4000 dollars, third place $3000 and 4th place $2000 dollars.

The Plate championship final will take place on Saturday January 30th and the Grand Tournament finals for the Caribbean Alliance Cup will be played on Sunday January 31st 2016. The Venue for the finals will be announced at a later date.

The 2014/2015 Veterans Football champions were Caricom Masters who defeated Soufriere Veterans in the finals.
