(SNO) – Johnnel Eugene and Kimani Melius are set to lead Saint Lucia’s team to the Windward Islands Under 19 cricket tournament later this month in Grenada. Johnnel has been named captain by the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association (SLNCA), whilst West Indies Under-19 player Kimani is his vice captain.

Also named to the team are former West Indies Under-16 player Wayne Edward, Jard Goodman, Simeon Gerson, Craig Elisee, Garvin Serieux Jr., Sanjay Hayle, Ackeem Auguste, Keygan Arnold, Tyrone Theodore, Jannick Serieux, and Matteo Boulogne. Named as reserves are Lee Solomon, Udell Preville, Jaden Elibox, and Rayhym Joseph.

Former West Indies youth player Serieux Jr. is joined by his brother Jannick. Serieux Jr., Auguste, Theodore, Arnold and Gerson are also amongst seven Saint Lucian members of the Windward Islands Under-17 team to contest the Regional Tournament in July in Tobago.

The Windwards tournament is set for 24 June to 3 July, where the boys will contest three two-day games. From there, the Windwards U17 quintet will travel on to Trinidad and Tobago, where they will meet up with Solomon and Dominic Auguste, both of whom missed out on U19 selection.

Questions are being asked of the SLNCA as to the results of the recent national trial matches and the performances of the selected individuals at those matches. Whereas the SLNCA announced that the matches would be held, no news has come as to how the young men did in the match, a perennial problem.
