PRESS RELEASE – The Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology has finalised preparations for the staging of the inagural Energy Kilo-Walk, scheduled for Sunday December 6th, 2015.
A new and exciting commemorative activity for Energy Awareness Week 2015 which was marked under the theme “Empowering Our Sustainable Development” is the kilo-walk. This activity is to promote national education and awareness of sustainable energy issues and to advance the use of sustainable energy locally.
The Energy Kilo-walk is a regional event planned by CARICOM to raise awareness of sustainable energy. As a result, the Ministry intends to utilise the walk as an opportunity to sensitise the population on energy related matters, in particular, some of the current energy initiatives undertaken by the Ministry.
The walk will commence at the Caribbean Cinemas Car-park, and continue on to the Dame Pearlette Louisy School, then up through Morne Serpent, Grande Riviere, Corinth and back unto the Castries-Gros Islet Highway and back to the Caribbean Cinemas. Once completed, participants will reassemble at the car-park where they will be treated to prizes, entertainment and educational material on energy.
The event is scheduled to take place from 6:00a.m. to 12noon on Sunday December 6, 2015. Please note that registration is absolutely FREE. There will also be a mini exhibition of energy products.
