Employees at Renwick & Company Ltd. vote for trade union representation

Employees of Renwick & Co. Ltd have voted in favour of trade union representation.

On Monday August 26, 2013 clerical, technical and sales staff employed with Renwick & Company Limited at operational units in Castries and Vieux Fort participated in a secret ballot poll.

The exercise which began at 8.30 a.m and concluded at 4.30 p.m. was undertaken and supervised by officials from the ministry of labour.

Over eighty percent (80%) of the employees voted in favour of having their interest protected by the National Workers Union.

This result will bring an end to a long drawn out recognition issue between Renwick & Co. Ltd and the NWU. The union is awaiting its recognition certificate from the ministry of labour.

Meanwhile, security guards employed with Alternative Security Services Ltd. will also be represented by the National Workers Union. The ministry of labour has issued a recognition certificate to the NWU on behalf of the security guards.
