(PRESS RELEASE) – A donation ceremony for “2020 Constituency development Programme (CDP) and National Sports Facility Project Phase II” was held at the office of Prime Minister on 20 February 2020. H.E. Ambassador Douglas Shen of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Honourable Ezechiel Joseph, Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Natural Resources and Co-operatives presided over the ceremony.
Also present were several cabinet members including the Hon Minister Guy Joseph, the Hon. Minister Dr. Gale T.C. Rigobert, the Hon. Minister Lenard Montoute, the Hon. Minister Bradly Felix and the Hon. Minister Edmund Estephane.
In his remarks, Ambassador Shen noted that the 2020 CDP will be focused on providing basic and critical livelihood infrastructure to areas including but not limited to Castries South, East and Southeast, entire Micoud and Dennery. These Infrastructure projects follow the “Taiwan Finance, Saint Lucia Build, Saint Lucia Own” model and will be carried out and implemented all by local Saint Lucia businesses and contractors with an aim to raise the living standard of residents and enhance convenience and business environment for the people of Saint Lucia.
Ambassador Shen further stated that Fair Helen’s talented sports personalities are getting more and more recognised around the world. Taiwan is honoured to work with Saint Lucian Government to promote “National Sports Facility Project” to provide Saint Lucians a safe, professional and comfortable environment to relax, get healthier and even pursue their dreams to become an outstanding athlete one day.
Both Acting Prime Minister Ezechiel Joseph and Minister Guy Joseph expressed their gratitude to the Government of Taiwan for its generosity. Both CDP and National Sports Facility Porject are extremely meaningful programmes with profound and positive impact on the sustainability and prosperity of every local community.
