President of the Association, Gregor Biscette attested that pensioners are important members of society and not just “old people who are finished working”
“Pensioners are the ones who have actually formed this nation, developed this nation and those younger persons who are enjoying, who are working right now, who are enjoying the work of pensioners and so we are grateful and proud to feel that we have led the way, we have paved the way for others to follow”.
The theme for this year’s celebration was “Recognising a Valuable Resource in National Development. “
“Are we more aware of ourselves as a valuable resource in national development? Are we more aware of our value, our contribution in national development after the week of activities. Have we become more known to the public?”
Activities for the week included a lecture from the Barbados Association Of Retired Persons, Panel Discussions a beach picnic, essay competitions and Karoke and health activities.
