PRESS RELEASE – The Ministry of Infrastructure, Ports Services and Transport along with its other partners continues to promote road safety at all times. Thus far for the year 2015, the island has recorded 6 road fatalities.

In comparison to other countries in the region, this figure is small, but for a small island like ours, this is six too many. The ripple effects of these fatalities could never be fully comprehended, neither should the hurt, grief and trauma suffered by family and friends be forgotten.

During the Carnival season, the ministry urges everyone to continue to exercise caution on our roads.Motorists should continue to observe all traffic laws and to exhibit responsible behavior at all times when operating a motor vehicle. Remember avoid alcohol use while driving and observe the speed limits.

Pedestrians are also encouraged to exercise caution when using roads.

We wish you a safe, enjoyable and incident-free Carnival and remember “Road Safety is No Accident.”
