Dr. Preville thanks his supporters, says he’s willing to work with UWP
Dr. Claudius Preville.
Dr. Claudius Preville.

PRESS RELEASE – Although my bid to be political leader of the United Workers Party at the 38th Convention on Sunday 02nd November 2014 did not materalise, I would like to thank all the persons who assisted my campaign, the delegates who voted for me and all St. Lucians who supported me by their encouragement and words of advice.

I remain available and willing to work with the United Workers Party that we may collectively design a plan of action to move St. Lucia forward economically and socially.

I remain committed to continue representing the people of St. Lucia and the supporters of the United Workers Party against victimization, mismanagement of the economy, inability of the SLP to create an environment for the poor and middle class to succeed and to improve the financial position of the country.

  1. Well better luck next time, but the point here is not leader of the party but uniting with the other candidates and making the UWP a force to be reckoned with and most of all bringing our country back to where it was before it was raped and abused by the SLP Dictators.

  2. Welcome Mr. Preville and thank you for being magnanimous about the whole thing.
You are well placed come next elections to serve in some high position under the new UWP administration, that is if you fail to secure a seat. Just hang in there and be cool.

  4. Funny thing the mismanagement ,victimization instability .. For Pete sakes "both parties have had a hand in whatever has and is happening ! SLP is showing with all their PHD & degrees , the lack the foresight , UWP has not shown us or tell us
what , how they intend to make changes . I don't need a crystal ball to tell me it is really " we the people " with good workable and sustainable polices by the days Goverment to make a change .. Yes we the people by being proactive and goal oriented .. And yes forgetting instant but being hopeful with delayed gratification ! Don't be fools to think Goverment is actually the answers . They can pumped billions if we don't use it wisely we are screwed !

  5. Chastenet? remember what he did and said to an elected representative of Soufriere at the FACTORY? At that point he was just a selected member of government. Elect him and (WE) and OUR labour compatriots (LUCIANS), are toast. Watch our "PANIER" (bread).

  6. We continually hear people refer to Kenny Anthony as being arrogant, vindictive and dividing the people. I want to applaud dr Preville for the way he conducted himself on Sunday but I must condemn strongly the behavior of dr Gail Rigobert. After all what has happened to Stephen King, who has always maintained that he is a member of the party, to hear dr Rigobert go on the attack in that manner and at such a forum was really in poor taste. This is a gentleman who has served the country and your party for over 30 years. At the 2013 convention he spoke of all the difficulties that he had just been through. The lost of the election was still fresh, the lost of his mother, his wife losing her job and on that same day of making that speech, losing the race for leadership of the party. There you had a broken man and instead of embracing and help him through what must have been a very difficult period, you pushed the knife deeper into the wound by removing him from the post of leader of the opposition which had serious financial implications. You then turn around and dismissed the people he had employed at the office. If this is how you treat one of your own, with limited power, I can only imagine what you would do with the power of being in government and to those who oppose you.

    • Gail need to shut her big wide jaw. She is still a novice as far as i am concerned. Who the hell is she to come and talk about "gros flambeau" when she herself just came in.

    • But is it true that as well as him serving the UWP for 30 years, he managed to serve himself when in power? How did the bus driver get so wealthy?

  7. I don’t need to justified I am “a political”. Infact the behavior of powder face boy here, made LMP look like a viable alternative to the SLP/UWP.
Claudius may be an economist but not a strategist and his behavour showed there is no unity in the party.
After Chastanet fought a hard battle to oust an ex- prime minister to become the leader of the party, you without any track record, decided to throw the party in turmoil again without the slightest hint of your leadership skills or how to manage a party or government.
If you had taken the time to be known and introduce yourself to St. Lucia you could have stand a chance. I really cannot comprehend your haste to challenge the Chastanet.
Did you notice the party members like the guy from Gros Islet and Gale did not throw their hats in the rings. Novice.
I am not a betting man but I will guarantee you fade into oblivion in St. Lucia political history. For better or worst.
    Good luck.

  8. Proud of your Dr. Preville. The party needs your advice and i hope that you can use your interpersonal skills as well as your negotiation skills to bring the entire group together. The party cannot allow the inside fighting too continue since it will only serve to divide the very foundation upon which is was built. I was quite disappointed in the speech made by Dr. Rigobert on Sunday. This form of attack on other members of the party will only serve to push them further away. The party needs unity among all members (not just the small group close to Chastenet). It must be a wholesome collaborative effort. Members must think before they act and they have to remember that they should not "air their dirty laundry" in public because it can cause irreparable damage giving the other party mileage over you. Good Luck!

  9. Well said Mr. Preville. I admire your charisma.

I do hope those left heart broken to his lose as political leader are comforted by his words for he said some very important things.

I am glad that he is still fueled up to help revitalize our nation along side the UWP.

  10. congrats on your run. Don't look at this loss as a failure. Just a little set back. You have the power and potential to take this country to newer heights. Work at it. Our country needs some fresh minds like yours so if you can work with chastnet do it. Good luck!

  11. That unity and working together is a delusion.I heard the same thing after the previous delegation conference. As long as Richard and Frederick is outside the arena the battle is won but the war is not over.Mark my words unbelievers.

  12. Dr Preville you seems to be a man of integrity. You are the calibre of people that we should be supporting. Not those power hungry individuals who simply want an opportunity to get rich quick, then become a detriment to our country because of their corrupt dispositions. If the people of Saint Lucia are not blinded by petty prejudices, I have no doubt you will one day make one hell of a prime minister. Best wishes.

  13. Good luck bro. We all complain about politics but it is a necessary evil, and we need more folks like you to get into politics (on both sides) if we want to see a change for the better. Just don't follow Stephenson King in letting characters like Richard Frederick lead you down a path of pettiness and self destruction.

  14. Better luck next time sir. I hope you can use your influence to further unite the party with the likes of King and some other bitter ones. My advice to you is to work closely with chastnet and the rest of the team.
