More than 30 enthusiastic cyclists turned out on Sunday in the Vieux Fort community to take part in the latest leg of the Saint Lucia Cycling Association’s National Lotteries Cycling Community Development Series.

The race included competition in the Mountain Bike, BMX and Road Bike classes for seniors and juniors, male and female.

Eustace Dookie emerged victorious from a field of 17 in the Road Race, which was a total of 24 kilometres. In the men’s race, Dookie crossed the line in 31:06.87, followed by Winston ‘Stoney’ Williams in 31:43.13 and Elvis Joseph with a time of 31:44.94.

Outstanding young rider Dave Charlery secured the top spot in the junior race with a time of 33:48.91, with Calixte Williams second in 33:49.16, closely followed in 33:49.66 by Janick Paul.

Five cyclists rode in the Mountain Bike category, a total of six kilometres. Levan Modest won with a time of 12:44, second place to Bradley Fontinelle with a time of 13:04.22 and third secured by Vernan Xavier with a time of 13:33.31.

In BMX, Dave James won, Terriano Felicien was second and Tommy Mitchel third. The Under 12 BMX competition saw Clyanius Jules emerging as champions, with Vernon Herman and Romario Lionel second and third.
