DJ Yellow walked away the winner of the finals of the 10th Heineken Green Synergy DJ competition held on Sunday night in Fond D’or.

DJ Hyper placed second and Selector Twist copped third spot.

Virtue of his victory, DJ Yellow will become the 2013 Saint Lucia Heineken Green Synergy DJ Ambassador. He also received cash and product prizes as well as the opportunity to play at Heineken-sponsored events for the year.

He will also be a guest VIP DJ at the popular Heineken Regatta in St. Maarten.

The competition was open to St. Lucian residents, male and female, age 18 and over. This year the event was also open to regional participants.

Over the past few weeks, DJs were invited to play at various Heineken summer promotions across the island. From these events, participants were selected to move into the semi-final rounds.

The semi-finalists then went through the paces of workshops and seminars to prepare them for the ultimate Heineken Green Synergy competition.

Following the selection of the semi-finalists, two semi-finals were held: one at Pigeon Island and the other on the Kaka Bef, Vieux Fort.

The format for Heineken Green Synergy 2013 allowed for the competing DJs to showcase their tricks, mixing skills and techniques with a lesser emphasis being placed on the clash this year which was a separate component.

DJ’s were allowed to use the medium they are most comfortable with including turntables, Serato or virtual DJ, as well as utilizing a mic man as an added component to their set.
