One of the biggest and most recognizable names in the entertainment industry, the prolific and versatile Ricky “Ricky T” Joseph, has firmly secured his spot in two of the biggest music competitions for Saint Lucia Carnival.
The Digicel endorsed musical ambassador has emerged as a serious contender making up the select list of finalists for both the Groovy and Power Soca crowns.
Ricky T, who has toured extensively both regionally and internationally, has also amassed a huge local fan-base. He continues to bring his particular brand of excitement to this Carnival season with not only his catchy lyrics and unique style of connecting with audiences, but also with his appearances at the biggest carnival fetes, all to the delight of music lovers.
Commenting on Ricky-T’s qualification for the upcoming Groovy and Power Soca Monarch competitions, Digicel’s Marketing Manager Kerchelle Jn. Charles says, “As an exceptional company with a people centric brand, we continue to be proud of the competitive spirit of this extraordinary musical icon. His love for his fans, his dedication to his craft and his consistency year after year has distinguished him as a true musical ambassador for Saint Lucia.”
In 2011 the groovy smash hit “Indian Girl” brought Ricky-T his first taste of groovy soca victory. He has also won the Power Soca Monarch title multiple times with hits like “Wheel and Come Again” in 2008 and “Like a Jumbie” in 2009.
Ricky T is also a three time winner of the now defunct Caribbean Soca Monarch and is a multiple Road March winner with hits like “Container,” “Mad Ting,” and “Pressure Boom.”
For this year’s Groovy competition Ricky T will perform the popular “40 days & 40 nights” and the heart racing “Mass Attack” for the Power Soca Monarch competition. Ricky T is a member of the Take Over Village; a collaboration of the Take Over Tent and Soca Village for 2013. The collaborative tent is among other carnival groups sponsored by Digicel for the 2013 carnival season.
Digicel’s extends best wishes to him and his camp as Saint Lucia Carnival continues towards its eventual climax on Carnival Tuesday July 15.
