PRESS RELEASE – Digicel St. Lucia ushered in the new academic year2015-2016, on Monday September 7, 2015 with its Back to School Outreach Programme and by providing free bus rides to all school children and the general public traveling on any Digicel branded busacross the island.
Having distributed back to school packs to over 300 children at different summer camps in addition to over 500 Instore giveaways duringthe month of August; Digicel, as part of its annual drive further delivered hundreds of school supplies, including back packs, notebooks, lunch bags, pencil cases and exercise books to various schools throughout the length and depths of St. Lucia. As a means of further welcoming and also provided free transportation on all Digicel buses for students, teachers, parents and other passengers alike.
Team Digicel commenced their journey delivering to schools within the northern region at the Monchy Primary School, the Fond Assond Combined School, The Balata Primary School and the Dame Pearlette Primary School. Special Education institutions including the Dunnator School and the Lady Gordon Opportunity Centre were also beneficiaries of the programme.
Day 2, Tuesday September 8th, many schools along the east coast were too, recipients of school supplies through the Digicel Back to School Outreach programme. TeamDigicel commenced at the Bexon Infant School where they met Principal John who was beaming with gratitude.
She expressed ‘Today being only the second day of school and we have students who are not able to attend because they simply do not have the supplies they need to be at school. Digicel your contribution today will undoubtedly go a very long way is assisting our students.
Most times we have to buy or seek donations in order to ensure every child gets the education they deserve, therefore your voluntary donation and consideration of the Bexon Infant School is much appreciated.”Visits and donations continued to Aux Lyons Combined School, the Dennery Infant, Micoud Primary School and the Vieux-Fort Special Education Centre.
Schools along the west coast including the Anse La Raye Primary, Canaries Primary, the Bouton Combined, the Fond St. Jacques Primary, the Soufriere Special Education Centre and the Piaye Combined School on Wednesday September 9th, were all recipients of Back to School Supplies from Digicel. Extensive gratitude from principals, teachers and students alike transcended throughout the day, ending the Back to School Outreach programme on an excellent note.
