Digicel shows love to Jazz in the South

PRESS RELEASE – Platinum sponsors of the St Lucian Jazz and arts festival Digicel, was elated about the success derived from Labowi Promotions, execution of the popular ‘Jazz in the South’ concert, held at the Rudy John Beach Park.

Sunday, May 4, 2014, Laborie came alive as scores of patrons converged at the Rudy John Beach Park and had their senses awakened with great jazz music, food and unmatched scenery. Performances from The Shomari and Wendell Jazz Project; from Martinique, The Gregory Privat Quintet featuring namesake pianist and composer Gregory Privat; and rounding out the unique blend of creole jazz for which Jazz in the South is known, The Jazz Racine Haiti Project of Guadeloupean Jacques Schwarz-Bart, featuring festival mainstay Etienne Charles on trumpet and “Prince of Haitian Roots Music” Erol Josué all entertained their audience’s building to a crescendo of great entertainment.

Starting in 1997, Jazz in the South has built its legacy of excellence with the unique performers from around the Caribbean that have graced their stage. A blend of great Creole Jazz music was in abundance at the park as one by one the entertainers did not disappoint.  The free concert started at 3 p.m. and was exciting for all as families and friends danced the afternoon away with the event finishing off in great style leaving everyone wanting more.

Digicel’s Country Manager Holly Hughes Mc Namara commented, “Digicel continues its unwavering support of burgeoning Saint Lucian communities with our patronage of Jazz in the South. This southern location offers a unique jazz experience for many and highlights the creole heritage of the St Lucian people fused with jazz influences that makes for a wonderful musical experience”.
