PRESS RELEASE – As the 23rd Annual Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival is set to officially begin, Digicel, platinum sponsors of this international event, is for third year supporting “Jazz on the Bay” — a two-day musical extravaganza which will celebrate the natural beauty of the unique cove, Marigot Bay St. Lucia.
Marigot Bay, located on the western coast of Saint Lucia, was dubbed by American novelist James A. Michener as “The most beautiful bay in the Caribbean.”
A historic landmark, having been the site of numerous battles between the French and British navies, is today a location well known for luxurious homes, boutique hotels and celebrities.
Capella Marigot Bay is one such hotel that is located in the heart of this charming island’s natural delights. Adjacent to the internationally renowned Marina at Marigot Bay, Capella Saint Lucia enjoys premium access to everything, from lush rainforests to fishing and horseback riding.
‘Jazz on the Bay’, the brain child of the Marigot Village, will be held on Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3, 2014. Endorsed by the St Lucia Tourist board, ‘Jazz on the Bay is a mainstay on the calendar of events for the St. Lucia Jazz and Arts and Festival. This exceptional event promises to be an explosion of talent over a two-day period.
Themed ‘Jazzy Vibes’ and ‘Caribbean Rhythms’, the Friday show will encompass traditional jazz music while the Saturday will highlight Caribbean music at this FREE event.
On the Friday, your musical appetite will be tantalised with performances by lnner Urge, Blue Print, Harmonites Steel Band, Black Ants, Claudia “The Diva” Edwards with her band Naked Chords and Barbara Cadet. May 3 will change gears and will preview more soca and calypso musical genres featuring our national talent such as: Secrets Band, Focus Band, the Invader, ASAP Band, Raw Elements Band, Superman HD, and DYP.
As intimated by Digicel’s Public Relations and Communications Executive, Sergin John Baptiste: “Digicel is committed to supporting community-based jazz events as it decentralises the festival and allows for a wider patronage of all the events hosted over the period. Being part of ‘Jazz on the Bay’ for the third consecutive year is exciting, as the unique combination of location, ambiance and of course music, is unmatched and allows visitors and locals to enjoy and experience the best of this scenic location.”
