PRESS RELEASE – Digicel is pleased to be the sponsor of a pageant that promotes both beauty and social consciousness through environmental awareness- Miss Earth, St Lucia 2014.

Six ladies, all passionate about the environment will all bring grace, poise and to the Gaiety on Rodney Bay this Friday August 29th, 2014.

Setting out to deliberately reinvent and improve the concept of beauty pageants organizers, Carousel Productions, launched in 2001 MISS EARTH Beauty Pageant. The underlying theme being that beauty queens can be a good and effective advocate of worthy causes and ambassadors for change.

Not wanting at all to be like any other pageant, this event whose raison d’etre is to have its candidates and winners actively promote and involved in environmental activism while simultaneously promoting their countries as tourism destinations St.Lucia has had three representatives over the years (Hanna Fitz 2006, Cathy Daniel Sammy 2007, Oneka McKoy 2008) partake in this pageant.

With a lull in the pageant, organizer Cathy Sammy saw the importance of giving life to the St Lucian leg of this pageant after a seven year hiatus. Six lovely ladies:Patrisha George, Keisha Gonzague, Ciel Leonce, Kershara Williams, Cleopatra Mason and Francillia Austin.

Every year, 80 to 90 candidates from all over the world compete on beauty and knowledge of environmental issues. The winner of MISS EARTH will serve as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns worldwide.

“Digicel has always been a company that is an advocate for the environment. So we feel that supporting this initiative will help raise the profile of environmental awareness and advocacy. This is a cause that affects us all, and Digicel wishes all the contestants good luck and we look forward to a spirited event this Friday”, commented Head of Marketing Leslie Collymore.

  1. Third girl;beautiful effortlessly. In fact all of them are. Shades of black. I am not one of those small minded people who say because she is light or dark she is beautiful. Beauty comes in ALL SHADES. If you live in the US or Uk you know what i am talking about. Black is black.
