Digicel partners with Yoplait for Breast Cancer Campaign 2015

BreastcancerawarenessPRESS RELEASE – As the region’s leading telecommunication provider, Digicel has partnered with a renowned international brand, Yoplait and Consolidated Foods (CFL) for the 2015 Breast Cancer Campaign.

Digicel has joined a global movement by supporting initiatives geared towards observing October as Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Yoplait Walk for Cancer will take place on Sunday November 1st, 2015 at 6:00 am from Mega J, Choc and will culminate at Pigeon Point.

For 2015 Digicel has joined the 2015 Save Lids to Save Lives Campaign which is being observed under the theme, “Friends in the Fight”. The breast cancer cause has for several years been supported by Yoplait through the ‘Save Lids to Save Lives Pink Lid Campaign’ and the CFL/ Yoplait Walk for, activities specifically designed to raise public awareness for those touched by the disease in Saint Lucia and worldwide.

Digicel’s marketing and Communications Executive Louise Victor said “Digicel firmly believes in supporting initiatives that goes beyond the call of duty of just supporting a cause or the community but to really help save lives as Breast Cancer not only affects women across the globe but right here in St. Lucia, as we continue to see a rise in the number of cases. With Digicel’s level of social consciousness as a company, we believe it is our duty and only fair that we join hands with efforts and strides already being made to support our friends in the fight.”

Miss Victor also added “Furthermore, Digicel believes in promoting positive lifestyles and overall wellness which inevitably contributes to reducing one’s health risk and walking is definitely an easy and excellent way to get active. We look forward to Sunday’s walk not just being for the cause but to further create the awareness that preventative measures should be taken .”

Digicel has also partnered with The Wave for ‘Men in Heels’ which is specifically targeted at raising the awareness of breast cancer in men. This race will take place immediately after the Yoplait walk and we encourages all male participants to be part of this exciting race.

For the month of October Digicel also partnered with First Caribbean International Bank for the annual ‘Walk for the Cure’ and also observed ‘Think Pink Friday’ as part of initiates to support and observe Breast Cancer Awareness.
