Digicel continues with its KickStart programme as it completes its second phase and concludes its third phase today at The Sab Sporting Facility.

Last week Digicel KickStart Series 2013, saw the best of Under 16 local footballers from the south of the island showcase their talents for their chance to be part of the final 30 boys.

On Wednesday April 10th, a large roster of young footballers got the opportunity to display their skills as they participated in the second pre-clinic for final selection to the Digicel KickStart Clinic with Chelsea coaches. This second of three pre clinics held on the Micoud playing field, in Micoud started from 12pm and catered to the southern districts.

Soufriere, Choiseul, Laborie, Vieux Fort South, Vieux Fort North, Desruisseaux, Micoud, Mon Repos, Dennery and Mabouya Valley were all assessed equally by a panel consisting of the St Lucia Football Association trained local football coaches.

Today Digicel will conclude the pre clinics in the north of the island from 9am allowing the highest scoring boys from the previous two clinics to have the opportunity to once again prove themselves and be recognized as one of the best 30 under 16 football players who will work with the Chelsea coaches in St Lucia.

Kentonia Censey-Smith, Digicel Marketing Executive explained “With a continued focus on fundamental training and development for the football sport, proper tackling, blocking, passing, receiving, and ball carrying techniques are transferable to any type of offense or defense. Recognizing deserving youth who posses these skills allows Digicel to give them the opportunity to go to the next level of the game with training from international professionals.”

Again this year, three boys will be chosen to attend the regional Academy in Barbados for an eight day intense coaching clinic later this year which will once again be fully funded by Digicel.
