August 27 2012, Castries, St. Lucia: Digicel, St Lucia’s Bigger, Better Network in collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure, Sports, Services and Transport had its Community Outreach Back to School Program in the central part of the island last weekend.
Digicel team members volunteered their time and painting skills to engage in a Pedestrian/Speed Hump Paint Project which was a great success.
It was Sunday morning when Digicel team members made their way down to the City of Castries to give back to the community. The new academic school year is fast approaching and Digicel decided to undertake a re-painting of pedestrian crossings and speed humps.
The project was treated with great urgency as the safety of St Lucia’s youth is of great importance to Digicel. The activity went smoothly and quickly as Digicel team members rolled up their sleeves and completed the task at hand, swiftly and with great pride. The locations which got the pedestrian crossing and speed hump uplifts included some primary schools in the Castries city circuit.
Digicel’s Marketing Manager Kerchelle Jn Charles says, ‘Digicel always look forward to giving back to the people of St Lucia especially the youth. We at Digicel saw the need for the uplifts of the various cross walks and with due diligence Digicel got the job done.’
Look out for many more community outreach programs during Digicel’s month long Community Involvement in September.
