Did you know that gifted all-rounder Patsy Felicien was the first Saint Lucian to gain selection on the West Indies women’s cricket team?

Felicien was a member of St. Lucia’s cricket team, the Toughest Wrecking Crew, which was captained by Elizabeth Richards.

After being selected on the West Indies women’s team in 1988, Felicien was awarded the title of ‘Female Cricketer of the Year’ in 1989.

She came from a family of cricket aficionados, and during the period 2002/03, her aunt Verena Felicien was selected to captain the West Indies women’s One Day International team which also included seven other St. Lucian ladies.

Sadly, in 1996, at 29 years old, Patsy passed away tragically in a vehicular accident.  In memory of Patsy a trophy was donated for competition among the island’s female cricketers.
