Did you know the sisters Sophia and Digna St. Omer were crowned St. Lucia’s Carnival Queen in 1975 and 1980, respectively? However, Sophia went on to represent St. Lucia in the 1975 Miss World Pageant and made it to the semi-finals.

Did you know in 1974, Ann Simon of La Croix Maingot was crowned Miss Anse La Raye? Ann participated in the National Carnival Pageant; she was crowned the National Queen and became the first contestant outside of Castries to win the crown. In addition, she proudly represented St. Lucia in the Miss Caribbean Pageant and went on to win the title.

Did you know in 1964, 1965 and 1996 there was no calypso competition in St. Lucia?

Did you know the Mighty Terra (Mc Griffin Theodore) was St. Lucia’s first calypso monarch? He captured the crown on seven consecutive occasions from 1957 – 1963 and he also won again in 1966.
