Death toll from flooding rises to 5

The death from the Christmas Eve flooding across the island now stands at five.

Two bodies were reportedly discovered in Bexon; the body of a young man was found in Grace; a body was retrieved in Micoud; and a police officer was killed last night.

BEXON: A body was discovered in Crownlands (just before Marc). It has so far been identified as a male known as ‘Taliban’. No further details on the second body.

POLICE OFFICER:  Calvin Louis was reportedly crushed by a wall while trying to help persons in an area in Vieux-Fort city. Louis is from Piaye, Laborie and was working as a Special Services Unit (SSU) officer in Vieux-Fort at the time of his death.

MICOUD:  There are reports that two bodies were discovered but our news team can only confirm one so far.

Much of the southern and western sections of the island are still without water, electricity and telecommunications service.

  5. It breaks my heart to see and hear what my Looshan peeps are experiencing at this point in time, because this should not have been a time of grief and sadness but for celebrating and enjoying time with family. It' s awfully sad but God is good will only give us what we can take and will make us stronger and holds and together as a family one with another. Be strong and have faith and God will see you through!!

  7. May God Almighty comfort the grieving...
May He comfort and strengthen all who are adversely affect by the rains....
May the spirit of fortitude, cooperation, kindness and love be with all as you rebuild and restore your properties...

  8. It's a tragedy to know, that one of our beautiful Caribbean island, has been struck by such a devastating natural disaster. St.Lucia is a paradise in the sunlight, and a gem that glows in the darkness, stunningly beautiful. I'm not a Lucian, but Kittitian, who fell in love with the island, when I visited a long time ago. We as a Caribbean nation, share and feel your pain. On behalf of all Kittitians, living at home and abroad, we express our deepest sympathy, especially to the families who have lost love ones. May their souls rest in peace!
