(SNO) – Was Gregory Philip murdered or was his death accidental?

At least one relative, who spoke with our newsroom, believe he was murdered.

Details are sketchy surrounding the death of the man, many affectionately call ‘Checkie’.

Police are investigating reports that Philip fell to his death from a balcony during a dispute in Soufriere on Saturday night, around 9 p.m. It is also alleged that three people including Philip fell.

The relative, who spoke to our newsroom on condition of anonymity, had received news that body was found unresponsive in Soufriere. It turned out to be her close relative.

“I am heartbroken”, the relative said, adding that she and some other relatives are puzzled as to what really transpired that night.

They are actively seeking answers.

According to sources, police have not ruled out foul play as they investigate the allegations. A post mortem examination this week will also shed some light on the circumstances surrounding his death.

“God sees and knows all,” the relative said.

According to the relative, Philip worked with the government, fixing roads, and had no children.

He would have been 44 or 45 on June 16, the relative added.

If this investigation turns out to be a homicide, this will be the 15th for the year.

About an hour before Philip’s death was reported, a 29-year-old La Pointe, Mon Repos resident, Stephen James, aka 2pac, was stabbed to death during an altercation at a shop in the Micoud community.

Three people, including a woman, have been taken into police custody in connection with the death.
