DEADLOCK

A reclassification exercise between the management of National Insurance Corporation (NIC) and the National Workers Union (NWU) has reached deadlock.

The NIC and the NWU have been engaged in this process for months.  While the NWU is of the opinion that a tremendous amount of progress has been made, there are still a few unresolved issues.

In keeping with the grievance procedure enshrined in the industrial agreement between the National Insurance Corporation and the National Workers Union, the dispute has been referred to the acting labour commissioner requesting his intervention with the objective of having this matter amicably resolved.

The reclassification process is on behalf of staff employed at the National Insurance Corporation in Castries, Rodney Bay, Soufriere and Vieux Fort.
