Haverigg Cricket Club professional Dalton Polius maintained his scintillating run of good form as he led his team to a narrow victory over neighbours Millom in Division One of the North Lancs and Cumbria League.
The Saint Lucian followed his unbeaten weekend century at Ulverston with another match-winning knock of 92 as Haverigg reached 179 all out. It was his fifth score of at least 90. Graham Dawson bagged five for 42.
But Polius wasn’t finished after his impressive work, taking four wickets for 25 as the visitors fought to recover after a terrible start that had their top six batsmen back in the pavilion for just 45.
A stand between Dominic Connor (55) and skipper Mike Wilson (36) gave Millom fresh hope but following their dismissal the tailenders did not last too long and Millom were all out for 167.
From 10 innings, Dalton has 645 runs, with a 107.50 average. He is scoring over 36% of his team’s runs. He also has 14 wickets, one shy of the total he enjoyed when he played with Harborne CC in the Birmingham League in 2014, but with a far better economy rate and average.
