As part of CYEN’s mandate of advocacy and educating young persons about environmental-related matters, the organisation has decided to be part of this year’s international observance of “Earth Hour”.
Earth Hour is a worldwide event organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and held towards the end of March annually, encouraging households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness about the need to take action on climate change. This year Saturday March 23, 2013 from 8:30 to 9:30 pm lights will go off round the world for that hour at major monuments.
The general public as well as persons in the business community are encouraged to turn off their lights and head down to Serenity Park on Saturday, March 23.
The event is slated to begin from 8 pm, during which various performances of dance, poetry, music and drama all heralding the message that climate change affects us all will take place to an open mic.
CYEN wishes to extend their appreciation the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries for their support of the event.
Anyone wishing to participate in the event can contact 484-7770 or 287-0600.
