Courts and NWU agree to wage increase, new pension plan

The management of Unicomer (Courts St. Lucia) Ltd) and the National Workers Union (NWU) have satisfactorily completed negotiations aimed at the establishment of a new industrial agreement.

Clerical and sales staff, porters and other employees with the company will benefit from an agreed ten percent general wage increase spread over a three-year period with four percent in year one, four percent in year two, and an additional two percent in year three.

Employees will also benefit from a new pension plan which will be jointly financed, shift allowance of  $2.25 an hour, the maintenance of existing customary concessions and average pay on commission while on vacation.

The company and the NWU will meet from time to time to deal with any anomalies that may arise from the new industrial arrangements.

The agreement will be signed shortly at the Department of Labour.
