Stealing from CLICO
Melvin Henry was arrested and charged with the offence of stealing from a business place. It was alleged that Henry entered the premises of CLICO on Brazil Street, Castries on June 21, 2012 where he made off with about $80 in cash and one flat screen television. Currently remanded, Henry pleaded guilty to the charge and is scheduled for sentencing on April 18, 2013.
Man to be sentenced for arson
Goodwin Jules was arrested and charged with attempted arson for attempting to set fire to the dwelling house of one Edith George of Riviere Mitant on May 24, 2012 at about 2 am. Jules stated that he set fire to a crate full of bottles below the structure, which he put out himself. A pre-sentence report has been ordered on Jules and he will return to court on April 9, 2013 for sentencing to begin.
Man pleads not guilty
Dillian Joseph has pleaded not guilty dangerous harm and grievous harm when he appeared in the High Court last week. No details of the case can be given out as there are counter charges being pursued by the defendant against the complainant in the matter. Joseph is set to return to court on April 25, 2013.
Duo plead guilty to drug charges
Kasim Joseph and Asa Mathurin were arraigned on one count each of possession of a controlled drug and one count each of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply. The two men were arrested on July 27, 2011 on the St Jude’s Highway with a quantity of cannabis. Both men pleaded guilty to the charges and as such will stand trial in the High Court of Justice Francis Cumberbatch. The matter has been scheduled for May 16, 2013 for continued case management.
