COURT NEWS: Man attacked by machete-wielding robber

On June 14 2013, Jeremiah Edgar of Choiseul was committed to stand trial for the robbery of Urban St Brice.

On April 15, 2012 it is alleged that Edgar followed St. Brice from a community playing field in Delcer, Choiseul and made his way home.  St. Brice was attacked from behind with a cutlass and robbed of several items which included some gold and cash valued at over $80,000 EC.

St. Brice managed to escape his attacker and run home.  He later proceeded to the Soufriere Hospital where he was treated for his wounds.  He then proceeded to the Choiseul Police Station where he made a report of the incident to officers and gave a description of his attacker.

A man was later arrested and identified by St Brice as his attacker.  That man, Jeremiah Edgar of Delcer, Choiseul, was charged with robbery and is now committed to stand trial in the matter.

A second charge of robbery against Edgar was discharged by the court for lack of sufficient evidence. He will return to court at a later date for continuation of his matter.
