Consolidated Foods Limited (CFL) through its Super J IGA Unity in Community programme presented cheques to its Zone C (Micoud- Dennery) and Zone D (Gros-Islet) winners today, September 19, at its Mega J store.
Cheques totaling EC$ 10,000 each were presented to the Micoud Youth and Sport Council for the restoration of the changing facility on the Micoud playing field at Aduka Park and the Grand Riviere Primary School for a walk under roof, connecting two buildings and possible refurbishment of swings and slide in the play area.
Marketing and Corporate Communications Officer Taluah Girard related that this is CFL’s way in giving back to the communities in which they operate.
The communications officer said that these cheques were presented to the institutions because they play a vital role in the communities to which they belong.
She explained that various meetings and community programmes are usually conducted at the Grand Riviere Primary School and the Micoud playing field making them suitable candidates.
In addition to the cheques presentation Girard explained that the CFL volunteers are also getting involved with the community, to lend its support and to kick start each project.
“During the month of May the volunteers read to student at school around the island and just last month the engaged in works for the differently abled children” she added.
The Unity in Community programme which started in January of this year has completed similar works in the communities of Anse La Raye, Soufriere, Choiseul and Micoud.
