The competition for the Walter Joseph Trophy continued in La Clery over the weekend. On Saturday 15th November, Beta Fiinkers out-hustled Hustlerz in the wet conditions to earn a two nil win.
Scorers for Beta Finkers were Ricky Demus Jn Paul and Clive St. Croix. On Sunday Dax United got its first win of the competition via a three-two victory over Bise Lions.
Marlon Smith, Joel Lewis and Arnold Placide hit the back of the net for Dax United while Arnold Paul and Kurch Lawrencin scored in a losing effort for Bisee Lions.
The Desruisseaux Youth & Sports Council Knock Out Football tournament now approaches the quarter final stage after two more matches were played this past weekend.
On Saturday, Small Axe advanced to the quarter finals despite a 1-1 draw against La Cour Ville in their second leg match up. Kisla Octave and Roshan Joseph were the goal scorers for their respective teams in that encounter.
On Sunday, El Ninos also advanced to the quarter final round despite a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sunset. Scoring for Sunset were Greg Lubrun in the 22nd minute, while Chad Maximin scored Sunset’s second goal in the 61st minute. Jerlany Neptune scored for El Ninos in the 63rd minute.
The first quarter final will be played on Wednesday November 19th when DX United takes on Ti Rocher, and Small Axe will battle El Ninos on Thursday November 20th in the second quarter final.
The DJ DONGAR MACKESON Knockout Football Competition continued on Sunday November 16 with two second-leg matches at the Dennery Playing Field.
In the first match at 2:00 pm on a very wet outfield SERIA and WHITE HOUSE played to a hard-fought 2:2 draw in the return leg of their encounter. Goal scorers for Seria were Victory Leon and Tadius Faucher while the scorers for White House were Marlon Gilbert and Levi Gilbert.
SERIA won the first leg by 1:0 and has attained semi-final spot by virtue of an aggregate score of 3:2.
In the second match of the day HILLTOP BALLERS reverse their first leg defeat with a 2:1 victory over D C Y O. Goal scorer for Hilltop Ballers was McGuyver Raymond (2 goals) and for D C Y O, Barry Marquis.
With the aggregate scores tied at 3:3 at the end of regulation time the match was decided by a penalty shootout which was won by Hilltop Ballers by a score line of 4:3, to advance to the semi- finals.
The competition continues this coming Sunday (November 23, 2014) with another double-header.
