Soufriere Bayern Munich are Saint Lucia Football Association Heineken Fantasy League champions. The boys from Sulphur City broke a long title drought on Saturday night in Vieux Fort, beating home team Vieux Fort North Arsenal 2-1.
Action at the Philip Marcellin Grounds got underway after the Vieux Fort South Re-Registration Tournament final.
Inside half an hour, Bobby Emmanuel had put Soufriere ahead, giving them a 1-0 halftime advantage. 11 minutes into the second half, Emmanuel had doubled the advantage, making Jeffery Estephane’s 76th minute strike naught but a consolation.
Vieux Fort South
Platinum won 2-0 in the final of the Vieux Fort South re-registration league. With a goal in either half, the young men of Platinum overcame W Mangue U.
Both teams will represent Vieux Fort South in the Saint Lucia Football Association’s national club competition.
Big Players won the Philip J Pierre Trophy on the weekend, beating Flames United 2-0. In the third-place playoff, Toughest SC beat Marchand Under 23 4-1.
The Plante’s Place Senior Football Competition culminated on Sunday. In the third-place playoff, Wisdom 18 Plus recorded an impressive 4-0 victory over former champions, White House.
Piton Travel Young Stars beat On The Rock Strikers 1-0, Kerwin Bissette hitting the bar from long range in the 83rd minute, but Junior Cox taking advantage of the rebound.
The champions had the best goalkeeper (Jonad Bissette) and midfielder (Parker Gilbert) in the tournament.
Strikers had the best striker and top scorer, Jonathan Camille, and the most outstanding defender, also named tournament Most Valuable Player, Damian Edward.
DCYO won the Fair Play award.
The stage is set for a repeat of the top of the table clash as LA All Stars and Beta Finkers booked their places in the finals in contrasting styles over the weekend.
On Saturday, All Stars dominated La Clery Youth 7-0. Irwin Butcher led the way for All Stars with a hat-trick, his second in the competition. Junior Borbrel St Rose had a brace, Devon Edwards scored one, and the youth gave up an own goal.
On Sunday, Beta Finkers snuck through on penalties against Bisee. At the end of regulation time the score was locked at 1-1 with goals from Garvey Williams of Bisee and Tafari Charlemagne of Beta Finkers.
Each team took ten penalty kicks, Beta Finkers winning 9-8 in sudden death.
The third-place playoff is set for Saturday, while the final is scheduled for Sunday.
