Communities in Choiseul to host Piton Festival celebrating the island’s iconic peaks
The Pitons.
The much-celebrated Gros Pitons.

In an effort to foster the integration process of the communities of La Point, Delcer and Industry in Choiseul, an interim council formed for that purpose with the acronym ‘La-Delin’ will host the inaugural ‘Piton Festival’ on July 14 this year.

The Piton Festival is associated with the Community Resilience programme, geared at sustaining community-development initiatives.

The ‘Piton Festival’ will include the exploration of Gros Piton from 6 a.m. on the Sunday morning, encouraging all St. Lucians to climb Gros Piton. This activity will be managed in collaboration with the Piton Management Committee. It will be followed with the staging of the La-Delin Cricket Sixes at the Delcer Playing Field and cultural presentation by local groups.

These activities were chosen since they are significant factors associated with the traditions of the area.

The anticipated outcome of the event is the unification of the residents of La Point, Delcer and Industry under a strong Community Development Committee.
