(SNO) — Leslie Collymore has been returned as president of the Saint Lucia Basketball Federation (SLBF) following that organisation’s Annual General Meeting earlier this month.
Also returned from the executive elected in 2014 is Velica Augustin, as general secretary, and Wendell Scheek, treasurer.
Those two aside, it’s all change for this latest iteration of the SLBF, whose last executive committee suffered several premature losses, with at least two individuals manning the federation’s communications during the past four years-plus.
Also elected for the period 2019-2023 are Shauna Dantes as first vice president, Orlan Prescott as second vice president, Marlene Emmanuel as assistant secretary, and Kendell “Scady” Eugene as public relations officer.
Present at the AGM was president of the Caribbean Basketball Confederation and special guest speaker, Glyne Clarke, who gave a review of the local Federation’s activities regionally; the strategic plan of the regional governing body, FIBA Americas; and also presented the SLBF with the 2017 award of excellence for basketball development in the Caribbean.
The newly-appointed executive will be responsible for the development, promotion and sustainability of the sport of basketball in Saint Lucia during the aforementioned period and are, according to President Collymore, “very excited to continue working to further enhance, develop and advance the sport of basketball in Saint Lucia”.
Collymore has been head of the SLBF since 2011.
