Hotel workers employed with Coconut Bay Hotel Resort & Spa have resoundingly said yes to trade union representation.
The 200-odd workers employed with the hotel this week participated in a secret ballot poll. Over 86 percent voted in favour of having their interests protected by the National Workers Union (NWU).
The exercise, which was undertaken by officials from the Department of Labour, was done in the presence of union and management officials as well as the company’s Legal Advisors.
The NWU is currently awaiting a recognition certificate from the Department of Labour after which a meeting will be arranged with staff and management.
