Coconut Bay Resort and Spa paid particular attention to the health of its staff last Friday when it held its annual health fair at the hotel which was immensely appreciated by its employees.
Some of the participating organisations included Spartan Health Sciences University School of Medicine, which dealt with blood pressure and diabetic testing, St. Jude Hospital (Health and Nutrition/ Risk Factor and Screening/ Oral Health) the Vulnerable Person’s Unit of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force (Personal Safety and Handling Matters of Abuse) and Love Fitness (Fitness Through Exercise and Zumba/ Step Aerobics).
The staff took full opportunity of the services offered. They were very excited about the event.
Director of Human Services at the hotel, Juliana Samuel, told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that the fair has always been successful and the staff always appreciates it.
She added that it save them the inconvenience of finding time to visit health service providers while fully employed.
“We know normally when one works he or she does not have time to visit a doctor…“ Samuel said.
She added that sometimes money could also be a problem to obtain such a service, so the hotel feels it fit to bring the services to the employees, free of charge.
“Health is important to us… As employers we must ensure that our employees are healthy. That’s the only way they will perform well,” Samuel said.
Osline Felix, an employee of the hotel, described the hotel’s idea of holding an annual health fair for its staff as amazing.
She said she took full opportunity of the fair and encouraged her team members to do the same.
“I appreciated it…. Now I know my health status and what do to keep my body healthy,” he said.
Jacqueline Delsol, owner of Love Fitness, said she was happy to participate in the fair, adding that the services she provides will help the staff improve their total well-being.
