The Sports and Social Club of Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa has embarked on a series of tourism career guidance presentations focusing on secondary schools in the south of the island, spanning Choiseul to Dennery.

The first in this series of sessions was held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 targeting students of the Vieux Fort Technical Secondary School.

Yesterday (March 12, 2014), it was the turn of students of the Choiseul Secondary School who were the beneficiaries of presentations done by Coconut Bay staff personnel from various departments.

The sessions take the form of an overview on the structure of the industry and its contribution to the economy. This is followed by brief testimonials by experienced and management staff members from various Departments of Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa. These include Accounts, Guest Relations, House Keeping, Front Desk, Kitchen, Entertainment, Engineering, Sales, Photography, Kids Klub, Human Relations, SPA, Administration, etc.

Following the industry overview and staff testimonials, the floor is open for questions and answers involving interaction between students and Coconut Bay Staff.

The Tourism Career Guidance series is being coordinated by Ms. Leona Constable who will be the Caribbean’s representative in the World Miss Tourism Pageant, to be held in Nashville, Tennessee, USA in July of this year.

The objective of the Tourism Career Guidance sessions is: “to sensitize Secondary School students on the importance of the industry and the many career opportunities which are available”. The series of sessions being undertaken by the C Bay Sports & Social Club is linked to a deliberate focus this year by Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa on the education sector. This effort will soon be formalized with the establishment of a proposed training institute.
