PRESS RELEASE – Coconut Bay Beach Resort and SPA announces the closure of its property for a period of one month.
This closure will run from September 1st to 30th, 2014 during which time necessary remedial/upgrading works will be undertaken in order to bring some components of the physical plant in line with Coconut Bay standards.
Works to be undertaken by management during the period of closure will include: further renovation of rooms, installation of new bathroom showers in all 250 guest units and upgrade works of the hotel’s unique Lazy River to include additional public restrooms as
well as a brand new Lobby Bar.
After completion of this new season of refurbishment and remedial works, Coconut Bay will boast a product of supreme excellence. The continued investment in the property by its owner Butch Hendrickson is testimony of his confidence in Saint Lucia and Coconut
Bay. This in spite of challenging economic times and continuing increases in operating expenses, i.e. food, electricity and water. Mr. Hendrickson is very mindful of the hotel’s contribution as the biggest employer in the south, providing livelihoods for over 400
The Hotel will re-open on October 1st, 2014 with its full complement of staff. It is anticipated that all staff will continue with the Hotel when it reopens. Additionally, new employees will be supplemented to the work force to meet manpower needs for the upcoming peak season.
