Following an invitation for all team members to apply for the opportunity to further their education Mr Bray was one of three finalist to be considered.
“We are strong advocates on further education and encouraging our Team to grow with the industry,” said Managing Director, Allen Chastanet.
He went on to say, “Having Monroe College with such proximity to our hotel allows Bradley to continue his professional career whilst studying which is a win win for both him and his department as he raises his game to the ever changing dynamics of the industry”.
“The candidates who applied for the scholarship were all well deserving and it would be a great asset to have all furthering their degree but it was Bradley’s initiative to cross train and extend himself in each role he has held which made the difference,” said Feolla Chastanet, Marketing Director who launched the initiative and conducted the selection process.
“As I benefitted enormously from having done a degree after three years with the Saint Lucia Tourist Board in New York City and London and undertaken further studies at Surrey University in the UK, this scholarship is one that means a lot to me as I know what it will do for Bradley.”
Mr Bray started as a Bell Hop with Coco Palm in April 2010, was promoted to the position as Host from August 2010 and has worked his way up in the Front Office department. Mr Bray’s experience at Coco Palm has also included the duties of Receptionist, relief as a telephone operator and from March 2011 has held the position of Night Auditor at the award winning Rodney Bay hotel.
Upon learning of his success Mr Bray expressed his appreciation in saying “By being selected among all of our Team to take up the scholarship it shows the level of trust and confidence Coco Resorts has in me in awarding me the scholarship to Monroe College. This will give me an opportunity to improve my knowledge and skills, in order to contribute to the continued success of our brand: “COCO PALM.”
Bradley will start his degree on September 10 with a one year degree funded by Coco Resorts, Feolla Chastanet and by Mr Bray himself. He will join Sandy Leon, Revenue/Reservation Agent who was the first recipient of the scholarship in 2011-2012.
