PRESS RELEASE – St. Lucia is playing host to more than 200 junior tennis players from around the world who are here to compete in the 2015 Coca Cola/LIME ITF Junior Tennis Tournament.

LIME has joined forces with Du Boulay Bottling Company for the second successive year in sponsoring the event. Following their hugely successful collaboration last year, LIME is leveraging its technological clout as the nation’s leading telecom provider to help make the tournament one of the biggest and best ever.

The 2015 Coca Cola/LIME ITF Junior Tennis Tournament is being held at the St. Lucia National Tennis Centre, next to the National Cricket Stadium and the St. Lucia National Indoor Complex at Beausejour. The qualifying rounds kicked-off August 3 and the tournament ends August 8. The matches are being played on six international-standard, hard surface courts boasting state-of-the-art facilities. The St. Lucia Tennis Association is the main organizer of the tournament.

Throwing her full support behind the event, LIME St. Lucia CEO, Geraldine Pitt, who addressed the opening ceremony, said she is pleased with the decision to become a title sponsor of a competition that gives young St. Lucian tennis players the opportunity to develop their skills and make new and lasting friendships.

“LIME is a company that prides itself on connecting people, and that idea of creating a connection via tennis is exactly what this tournament is intended to achieve.

“Over the past 32 years, this tournament has given scores of talented young Saint Lucians the opportunity to compete against hundreds of their peers from dozens of countries in the Caribbean and the world. We believe strongly in the youth of Saint Lucia, which is the reason LIME will always welcome the opportunity to participate in youth development through education and sports,” said Ms Pitt. She commended the organisers and sponsors who had supported the tournament over years, and hailed the event – now in its 32nd year – as a “a remarkable achievement.”

LIME has been a strong supporter of grassroots tennis over the years. The company has partnered with Tiger Tennis Club, CBS affiliate WSEE TV and sports channel, Winners TV 80, to launch programmes that allow children to learn and enjoy the sport.

Earlier this year, LIME announced a major increase in financial support for local sports and youth development. Since then, the company has donated well over $150,000 in cash and prizes towards numerous sporting events and organisations, including six district schools sports meets, the 2015 Inter-Schools’ Athletics Championships, the National Primary Inter-District Track & Field Sports Meet and the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College Sports Meet. LIME also contributed prizes for the 35th National Sports Awards.

In addition, LIME has provided sponsorship support to the Blackheart Knockout Football Championships, the Valley Soccer Academy and the Sea Jays Swim Club. LIME is also a sponsor of the Trevor Daniel Football Development Program which provides training to youths in the 4 – 12 age categories to help them develop their football skills.
