PRESS RELEASE – The Grande Anse Turtle Conservation Network (GASTN) will be having a Beach clean-up of Grande Anse Beach on Saturday 4th April 2015.
Grande Anse Beach located in the Babonneau Constituency, is an important nesting beach within the Caribbean Region for Leatherback Turtles.
However, given its location along the East Coast, it is prone to accumulation of marine debris including garbage, particularly from other islands within the Eastern Caribbean.
Recognizing the importance of this area as a nesting site, it is imperative that nesting success is maintained. This includes the removal of marine debris which may impede nesting of these turtles.
The clean-up will occur from 7:30am- 12 pm. Transportation will be available from Babonneau near the Babonneau Police Station from 6:30am and at 7am next to the Des Barras bus shelter to Grande Anse Beach.
The general public is invited to participate in this important activity.
